Shapiro-Rubin

Howard and State Sen. Florence Shapiro of Plano announce the engagement of their daughter, Staci Shapiro, to Paul Rubin, both of Dallas.

The future groom is the son of Dr. Norman and Samylu Rubin of Halletsville, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Eli and Ruth Rubin of Hallettsville, Texas. He is also the grandson of the late Yetta and Jacob Michelson of Gonzales, Texas.

Rubin is the 1994 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in biology. He is also a 1999 graduate of The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School where he received a doctorate of dental surgery. Rubin is currently finishing his residency in pediatric denistry in Dallas at Baylor College of Denistry. He will graduate in June and plans to stay and practice in the Dallas area.

The future bride is the granddaughter of Ann and Martin Donald of Dallas, and Adolph Teitelbaum and Beatrice Sha-piro Teitelbaum of Dallas and the late Harry Shapiro of San Saba, Texas.

Shapiro is a 2000 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she received a bachelor of science in social work. She is currently in her last semester of graduate school and will receive her master of science in social work from the University of Texas at Austin in May. She is currently interning at Children's Medical Center of Dallas.

The couple plans a Sept. 2 wedding in Plano and will live in Dallas.
